BOARDING POLICIES

 

PROOF OF VACCINATIONS 

To ensure the health of all pets staying at Wyatt's Bed & Biscuit, we require without exception proof of vaccinations from your veterinarian's office showing current Rabies, DHPP (for dogs under 10 years of age) and *Bordetella (kennel cough) * that is required bi-yearly.  We do accept written titers from your vet. Bordetella vaccination can be administered via injection, nasal drops or orally; we offer the nasal kind here at the kennel for $25.00. Proof of vaccinations can be a letter or vaccination records from your veterinarian that must be emailed to us prior to your reservations. Rabies tags on collars are NOT acceptable proof.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP

You may drop off or pick up your pet anytime during our operating hours (though we will ask you when making reservations if it will be an 'AM' or 'PM' drop off and pick up). We operate just like a regular hotel/motel. Regular checkout time is during our morning hours. Pick up during morning hours = no charge for that day. Pick up during afternoon hours = full day’s charge. On most major holidays, we will offer one morning or afternoon for picking up and dropping off. We are closed for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During our off hours, please do not honk your car horn at the closed gate or call us or expect to be let in unless prior arrangements have been made and approved. Thank you for understanding.

 If you are a no show for any major holiday or a summer reservation, you will be required to pay one night in advance before your next stay.

INTACT MALES AND FEMALES

Wyatt's Bed & Biscuit reserves the right to refuse to board un-sterilized dogs. Intact dogs will NOT be allowed out in play groups. Intact male dogs or even neutered male dogs that do board with us and are prone to marking will be charged a one-time service fee of $15.00. WE DO NOT ACCEPT INTACT FEMALES WHO ARE IN ACTIVE HEAT, however, intact female dogs that are boarded with us in-between heat cycles and wind up going into heat during their stay will be charged a one-time service fee of $15.00. Intact males and females will absolutely NOT be boarded together in the same run.

 FOOD

We do offer house food, but we strongly suggest bringing your own food. Being in a new environment or changing diet suddenly can often cause upset stomach and irregular bowel movements. Food can be brought in individual bags or in an airtight container. We suggest that you bring a little extra just in case plans change. We do have a fridge and freezer for any food that requires refrigeration. Please notify us of any allergies or food restrictions that your dog has. We ask that you do not bring large bags of dog food for short stay as we have limited storage space.

BELONGINGS

While we do provide a large variety of bedding (pads, quilts, solid blankets, or off-the-floor beds), you may include a small blanket, shirt, or towel from home; a familiar scent is comforting for pets new to boarding. Feel free to pack 1-2 toys, and please make sure to label all items. PLEASE DO NOT SEND: Food or water dishes (Slow bowls are accepted), glass containers of any kind, ripped toys or with stuffing coming out, stuffed toys with hard plastic eyes or noses, squeaky toys, tennis balls or frisbees.

MEDICATIONS

We expect that some of our guests might require medication. We accept prescription medications, ointments, and ear/eye drops. For these prescriptions we charge a $2 fee to administer up to 3 medications, and a $5 fee to be administered 4+ medications. We generally do not charge for vitamins or supplements that can be safely placed in your pets’ food but if there are multiple vitamins or supplements to be mixed in, we will charge for that. Many pets take their meds either in peanut butter, we provide that here at the biscuit. If your pet requires ‘Pill Pockets’ or deli meats, you must provide your own. If your pet is on a prescription medication or supplement, please send in the prescription bottle, or if you are putting pills in other containers, please make certain to write out in clear lettering the name of the drug and the correct dosage. It is extremely important for us to know the exact medication and dosage in case of any emergencies.

SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS

Occasionally we get asked if we can board pets with certain special medical needs. The answer depends on what exactly your pets’ needs are. We can accommodate dogs with arthritic conditions, blind dogs, deaf dogs, dogs on seizure meds who do not have active seizures. However, if your pet meets any of the criteria listed below, boarding at your veterinarians’ office or having a pet sitter come into your home may be the best option.

• Incontinent (cannot control their bladder or bowels when getting up/down)

• Extremely fragile or elderly and need a quiet environment.

• Has just had surgery and is wearing a cone or has stitches still in place.

• Needs medication, particular care or feeding outside of our regular hours of operation.

• Has regular active seizures

 

AGGRESSIVE DOGS

Wyatt’s Bed & Biscuit reserves the right to refuse admittance to any dog of any breed that we deem to be aggressive upon visual inspection. We realize there are many breeds that have a bad reputation and though they may not be aggressive to you, the owner, that can change when your pet is in new surroundings. We reserve the right to a mandatory meet and greet, and/or daycare for evaluation for first time boarders with us. If family members in the same run exhibit aggressive or protective behavior toward each other or us we reserve the right to separate them for their safety and ours.

PAYMENTS

Payment is required upon pick up. We gladly accept all major credit cards, cash, and local checks. If someone other than yourself is picking your pet up from their stay, please prepay or have a payment method ready for them. Notify the party picking up your pup that they will need to provide ID at pick up to verify their identity.

 

VISITORS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

We understand that you may want to see where your furry family members will be staying before booking. We offer tours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. These tours must be scheduled in advance. To schedule a tour, please reach out to us via phone or email. We will give you a small tour of our facility; the kennel area can only be viewed through a window as we find it disruptive for our board guests to have visitors in the kennel area. Please do not bring your pet to your scheduled appointment.

 

PHOTOGRAPHY

We want your pups to have the best time, and we capture that with photographs to share with you. Photos may be posted on Facebook and other platforms as to share with you and other customers the wonderful time that their pups are having. We reserve the right to take, and post photos taken of dogs while staying at the Biscuit.
